A taste of art: Café Fernanda at the Pinacoteca Brera
Feb 14, 2019
The Pinacoteca di Brera is housed in a late 16th – early 17th century Baroque palazzo. The Pinacoteca houses a large collection of paintings by famous artists from the Venetian, Lombard and Florentine schools of painting – from Rafael Santi to Tintoretto and Lorenzo Lotto. The new Café Fernanda by rgastudio is part of a large renovation project of the famous Milan gallery and has been named after the first woman director of the Pinacoteca Brera in the 1940s, —Fernanda Wittgens. The main challenge was to create a very harmonious interior that would combine elements of rich history and modern trends, while at the same time allowing the artworks to be enjoyed unhindered.
The designers have carefully restored and highlighted the original details of the interior, created by ingenious architect Piero Portaluppi – «wiry» marble floors and wide door frames. The dark bluish-blue walls are softened by warm browns and pinks and elegant brass accessories. Under the seventeenth-century Damini masterpiece is a rounded bar with an unusual fluted walnut wood trim. Mirrors built in behind the shelves visually add volume to the room. Instead of the massive chandelier, small lamps attached to beams on the ceiling softly diffuse light.
As far as furniture for visitors is concerned, preference was given to furniture by Italian brand Pedrali. These are Modus modular seating systems, Jazz armchairs, Nemea and Nym chairs, Inox tables. And, of course, we remind you that all these items are available to order in the New Studio salon at Nemiga 12, Minsk.
New Studio is a partner of the Italian factory Pedralli in Belarus.
